Man sent to Waterford after Torbay incident

A 47-year-old man accused of holding a girl against her will in Torbay has been sent to the Waterford Hospital for a seven-day psychiatric assessment.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary received a report around 9 p.m. Thursday that William Miller would not let the girl go. Officers found her unharmed in the man's vehicle, which was parked off the Bauline Line. Police also said the man and girl knew each other.
Miller had run from the vehicle but officers tracked him down with the help of a police dog, and he was taken into custody.
Faces multiple charges
In court on Friday, Miller was charged with evading police, and using his vehicle to assault a police officer. He also said he wanted to see a doctor, claiming the police dog bit him.
Miller was previously charged with breaching court orders to stay away from 11 different people. He was accused of breaching one of those court orders on Thursday by contacting four of them.
In the past, he's also been charged with uttering threats and causing a disturbance.
