A man and a woman appeared in provincial court Monday on charges laid after a mugging in a St. John's neighbourhood.
Amanda Murphy was granted bail during a court appearance on Monday. (CBC )Julian Squires, who had been arrested at Her Majesty's Penitentiary where he was serving time breaching the terms of his probation, was returned to remand after being charged for a mugging in Cowan Heights earlier this month.
Amanda Murphy was granted bail in the case.
It's alleged that Squires and Murphy responded to an ad posted on a website by someone trying to sell a necklace.
Police accuse Squires and Murphy of robbing the seller and a friend who came along for the transaction.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary also said Squires and Murphy had a club and a knife, but so far weapons charges have not been laid.
