Power lost again on Fogo Island

Electricity is gone again on Fogo Island.
Crews have been working to restore power there since 3:30 Saturday afternoon - and it was back online for about an hour before another outage occured.
A Hydro spokesperson said power is being supplied to the island through a spare subsea cable from Change Islands.
When the power was restored at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning, the system became overloaded. Hydro is asking its customers to unplug all non-essential appliances and to turn off their light switches.
Crews are hoping to have the power back on within an hour.
A planned outage will be needed at a later date to make permanent repairs to equipment on the main subsea cable.
