The Newfoundland and Labrador government announced this week that all 38 of the medical laboratories in the province have been nationally accredited.

A group called the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare visited and assessed each of the labs.

This inspection was one of the recommendations that came out of the Cameron Inquiry on Hormone Receptor Testing. The inquiry was completed in March 2009.

The facilities have now been granted certificates for the next four years.

What this certification means is that all of these labs will be expected to meet the nationally accepted lab standards.

The provincial government said 55 of the 60 recommendations outlined in the report released following the Cameron Inquiry have been completed.
