The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is not treating the death of a woman found near Power's Pond in Mount Pearl Monday as suspicious.
A woman, 33, was found near a trail around Power's Pond around 2 a.m. Monday, and was rushed to hospital in critical condition. She later died at hospital.
After consultation with the Medical Examiner's office, the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The investigation is still ongoing, but the RNC does not believe there is a public safety concern.
A police source initially told CBC News that the woman had sustained some kind of stab wounds.
However, an RNC spokesperson later said that was not an accurate way to describe the injuries, but would not provide more information.
