The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has revealed that it may never know the exact cause of a second barn fire in the Goulds area of St. John's.

The fire broke out on Monday night in the area of Ruby Line, about 12 hours after the first fire on the Backline in the Goulds.

The structure was completely destroyed and seven horses and three goats were killed.

Investigators say they have no information to suggest the fire was suspicious, but they also don't have enough information to determine a cause.

Police had previously said they believe the first fire started accidentally.
