Shearstown man facing charges in dog shooting

A man in Shearstown is facing several charges related to animal cruelty.
RCMP got a report Monday that a man in his 50s had shot the family dog, but police couldn't find the animal.
The man was arrested and then released, but it didn't take him long to end up back in the Harbour Grace lockup.
On Wednesday he was charged with uttering threats against the person who reported the dog shooting.
The man is also being charged with assault and careless use of a firearm.
He's due in provincial court on Thursday.
