Kruger, the company which operates the paper mill in Corner Brook, says it will shut down one of its two paper machines at the mill starting on Dec. 23.

The shutdown will last for 15 days and affect about 110 workers, roughly one-third of the staff at the mill. The stoppage will create a 4,000 tonne reduction in newsprint output.

Jean Majeau, a spokesperson for Kruger, said the shut down has happened due to "difficulties in print market conditions."
