Drunk drivers keeping police busy

Police in several communities were kept busy with drunk drivers in the past 24 hours.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in St. John's arrested a man, 52, early Thursday morning.
Police received a tip about a man driving erratically. By the time officers located the vehicle on Goodview Street, the driver was passed out behind the wheel.
RNC said he refused to blow the breathalyzer.
Off-duty cops make arrest
Two off-duty police officers stepped in to nab an impaired driver in downtown St. John's Wednesday night.
RNC officers spotted a man behind the wheel of a parked car who looked drunk. They prevented him from driving off until a patrol car arrived.
The man, 36, was charged with assaulting an officer and uttering death threats.
He is scheduled to make an appearance in court on Thursday.
Two charges within a month
A Traytown man is facing two impaired driving charges after being caught twice in a month.
RCMP in New-Wes-Valley stopped the man, 36, on Wednesday.
That's when officers discovered he had also been stopped for suspected drunk driving exactly one month earlier.
The man also owes almost $3,000 in outstanding traffic fines.
He is due to in provincial court in Gander on Thursday morning.
