Police are investigating a two-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a woman Friday afternoon on the Trans-Canada Highway.
The woman was driving eastbound on the TCH in a sedan when her car collided with a pickup truck west of Goobies at the Trailside Motel.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two occupants of the truck were taken to hospital in Clarenville with undetermined injuries.
The RCMP kept the highway closed in both directions into Friday evening.
Police encouraged motorists to use alternate routes.
Motorists stuck in the traffic were asked to stay in their vehicles while emergency personnel were travelling to and from the scene of the accident.
