An Anglican church in St. John's is giving Christmas gifts to children whose parents are in prison.

Rev. Robert Cook of St. Mark's said they're helping to deliver some holiday cheer to those who need it most.

"The children shouldn't suffer for wrong decisions their parents might have made," he said.

"It's to bring a little bit of hope and joy to children during the Christmas season."

Cook said the church is also putting together gift hampers for immigrant families who are new to Canada. The hampers include items like hats and mitts.
