The police are asking the public's assitance in indentifying the culprit in a violent robbery in St. John's Saturday morning.

The RNC say a woman was robbed in the area of Bonaventure Avenue sometime between 3 and 4 a.m.

The male suspect, who is believed to have been armed with a knife, fled the scene on foot.

The woman received non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as being in his late twenties to mid-thirties with dark hair.

Police said the victim did not know her attacker.

They're asking everyone to be vigilant and noted the offence appears to have targeted women.
