It looks like Santa Claus is coming to town. The annual Downtown Christmas Parade will go ahead as planned on Sunday afternoon.
Officials waited until early Sunday morning to see if the weather would shut down the event, but rain in the forecast was expected to hold off until later in the day.
The parade is set to start winding its way through downtown St. John's at noon.
It begins at the Fort William Building on Factory Lane, continues along Plymouth Road, Duckworth and Prescott streets, then onto Water Street, where it will end at the Railway-Coastal Museum.
The parade is expected to take about an hour to watch.
People are encouraged to leave their cars at home and can take the Santa Shuttle instead. The free shuttle buses depart from 10:30 a.m. onwards from the Confederation Building and the Nalcor Building on Captain Whelan Drive.
