A friend of Steven Neville said Thursday he was terrified during a high-speed car chase in September of 2010.
Kyle Miller was testifying during Neville's first-degree murder trial at Supreme Court in St. John's.
Miller was in a car with Neville, trying to outrun Doug Flynn and another man.
Three weeks later, Neville would be accused of killing Flynn and attempting to murder Ryan Dwyer on Carlisle Drive in Paradise.
'It was like a movie or something. Guys chasing you. It was terrifying. Intense.'— Kyle Miller
Miller said on the night of the chase, Flynn and the other man had knives.
"They were showing us weapons," he said. "We didn't know what they were going to do."
Miller said things escalated, and they were reaching speeds of 120 kilometres an hour trying to get away.
"It was like a movie or something," he said. "Guys chasing you. It was terrifying. Intense."
Miller told Neville's lawyer, Peter Ralph, that he was not only worried for his safety that night, but also for his life.
The chase ended at the Dominion store on Blackmarsh Road. Miller said Neville had called a couple of guys to help, and when Flynn and his friend saw them, they took off.
During the chase, Neville had also called the police for help.
The Crown has six witnesses left to call in the case.
