Police have charged a 35 year-old woman in connection with nine robberies in St. John's and Mount Pearl.

Lynn Noseworthy, 35, appeared at a provincial court in St. John's on Friday, where she was charged with 20 counts of robbery, attempted robbery, and wearing a mask.

She is being kept in custody for a psychiatric assessment and is scheduled to return to court on Monday.

RNC Const. Talia Murphy confirmed Friday morning that the woman was arrested shortly before 4:30 a.m. near a house on Freshwater Road. She was charged with 10 counts of robbery, nine charges for the overnight spree, and one charge connected to a robbery on Oct. 31.

Murphy told CBC News the charges could be escalated to include armed robbery.

The suspect made off with some cash after some, but not all, of the heists.

Murphy said the robberies started shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, when stores on Merrymeeting Road and Empire Avenue were hit within 10 minutes of each other.

The other incidents were spread out around the central and downtown areas of St. John's and in Mount Pearl.

The last one happened just after 4 a.m. at an Ultramar gas station on Blackmarsh Road

Murphy said that additional charges may be laid against the woman, and police are investigating whether someone else helped with the robberies.

There are no reports of injuries resulting from the incidents.
