RCMP said the death of a 79-year-old woman on the Botwood Highway on Tuesday morning is not considered to be suspicious.

The woman had been in the rear garden of a home on the highway when she fell into a small brook at the back of the property.

Two neighbours noticed that she was in distress, and rushed to her assistance. The local fire department and ambulance service were also called.

By the time the woman was rescued from the brook, she was dead.

Police say their investigation into the incident has been concluded.
