Newfoundlanders put on some stellar performances on the ice this weekend.
Kaetlyn Osmond was the surprise winner at the Skate Canada International event in Windsor, Ontario.
The 16-year-old from Marystown captured the women's title in her first-ever Grand Prix appearance.
Osmond fell once during her final skate, but easily outdistanced a skater from Georgia, who had been in second place but committed a number of errors in her last effort.
St. John's IceCaps also won this Saturday at Mile One Centre. (CBC)Meanwhile, the St. John's Ice Caps defeated the Norfolk Admirals 3-2 on Saturday night at Mile One Centre.
The win shut down the Admirals' franchise and league record streak of 32 consecutive regular season wins.
Jason Jaffray scored his first goal since returning to the Ice Caps line-up, while Eric O'Dell scored the eventual game-winning goal midway through the third period.
The IceCaps face the Admirals again Sunday afternoon, before heading on the road for six games.
