Police say alcohol is believed to have played a part in three serious assaults in Nain this week.

Two of the incidents happened Wednesday afternoon.

RCMP responded to the first call around 2 p.m. When they entered the residence, a man, 49, was sitting down, his face covered in blood. He had a large cut to his forehead.

Police said he had been drinking with a woman, 44, when she struck him in the head with a drinking glass.

The woman was charged with assault with a weapon. The victim was treated for his injuries.

RCMP got the second call at 4:30 p.m. when two men got into a fight, and one of them bit the other on the ear.

A 35-year-old man was arrested a short time later, and faces an aggravated assault charge.

The victim, 49, was treated for his torn ear.

On Tuesday evening, a man, 21, was charged with assault and breach of an undertaking for hitting a man, 39, in the head. His forehead was bleeding, but didn't require medical attention.

The investigations into all three incidents are ongoing.
