A strip club in downtown St. John's didn't provide much cover for a man late Wednesday night, after he tried to evade police.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary tried to stop a man in downtown St. John's just before 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
When a patrol tried to stop a car on New Gower Street, the driver refused to pull over.
Police said the suspect, 28, stopped on nearby Queen Street and ran into the Cotton Club. Officers caught up with him there.
The man faces a string of charges, including possession of cocaine, flight from police and driving while suspended.
The RNC said the driver already owes $8,557 in unpaid fines.
He was held in the lockup overnight for a scheduled appearance at provincial court in St. John's.
