Police arrested a young man in the centre of St. John's early Monday morning and impounded the vehicle he had been driving.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary picked the man up in the area of Pennywell Road. He was held in custody for the rest of the night, for an appearance at provincial court.

The man, 18, was given a summary ticket for driving without a licence.

The RNC noted that the teen had already racked up fines of $15,746.50.
