A 33-year old St. John's man has been charged with three counts of hit and run, and impaired driving after hitting a traffic pole and three parked cars.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the hit and runs happened Saturday night on New Gower Street and Duckworth Street.

When police arrived on the scene the suspect fled on foot. Police chased after him, and he was eventually caught flagging down a taxi.

The man is also being charged with dangerous driving, driving without a license and for not having paid over $8,000 in previous outstanding fines.
