The fall edition of the recreational food fishery in Newfoundland and Labrador opens today.

The rules are the same as earlier this summer, with a daily limit of five groundfish per day.

There's also a maximum limit of 15 fish for boats that have three or more people on board. That includes tour boats.

According to DFO, the recreational fishery will occur in all NAFO areas around Newfoundland and Labrador, including 2GH, 2J3KL, 3Ps, 3Pn and 4R.

Fishing is not permitted in the Eastport and Gilbert Bay marine protected areas.

The food fishery closes again on September 30, 2012.
