The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has issued a public advisory after an unspecified number of detonators were found in Mount Pearl.
Police say they recieved a call shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday that detonators were found in the middle of Commonwealth Avenue, near the intersection of Old Placentia Road.
The K-9 unit and explosive disposal unit were also called in.
An RNC spokesperson says even though there are no explosive components in the detonators, the items present a safety risk to both the user and the public.
Police say anyone who sees a detonator should not touch it, but call the RNC immediately.
According to police, these are not the detonators reported stolen from a business on Topsail Road in Paradise last month.
