Vandals have struck the golf course in Happy Valley-Goose Bay for the second time this year.

And once again, a green was ripped up with an ATV.

Howard Bishop, vice-president of the Amaruk Golf Club, says he couldn't believe the damage.

"It's sickening," Bishop said. "I don't know what we've got here for young people going around on these dirt bikes. They're a bunch of idiots."

Bishop and the staff at the golf course in Happy Valley-Goose Bay had just spent the last month repairing another green, which was torn up in August.

The damage will take lots of time and thousands of dollars to fix. The Amaruk club barely breaks even.

For now, there will be a temporary hole in place.

That takes away from the skill of putting and the enjoyment of the game for golfers like Matthew Pearce.

"When the hole's out in front of the green, it's not really very significant for a player," Pearce said. "We'll just move on to the next hole."

There won't be time to fix the damage this season.

The RCMP are investigating both acts of vandalism.
