One man has been arrested as police continue to investigate a violent robbery at a grocery store in St. John's.

James William Lucas, 36, is facing charges that include two counts of assault with a weapon — a knife — two counts of uttering threats, robbery and breach of a court order.

Police say a security officer was cut several times by a knife while trying to apprehend a man.

The suspect fled from the Sobeys supermarket on Topsail Road, but police say he was arrested shortly after.

According to the RNC, the accused had an accomplice.
