2 arrested as RCMP probe B&Es on Random Island

Police say they have received a number of break and enter complaints from the Random Island area, along with reports of several thefts from motor vehicles.
Charges have been laid in relation to one of those incidents.
According to the RCMP, two men were charged for breaking into a service station just outside Hickman's Harbour on Random Island on Aug. 20, along with several other offences.
The suspects broke a window at the side of the Country Road Service Station. When the alarm sounded, they left empty-handed. Their car broke down, police say, and they were forced to begin walking to Clarenville.
One of the two has pleaded guilty and received six months in custody and probation. The other man is set to appear in court next month.
The RCMP says other break and enter and car theft complaints remain under investigation.
Police are reminding residents in all communities to lock their vehicles and homes as a deterrent.
