Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro has asked the Public Utilities Board for $250,000 to build female bathrooms in dozens of its facilities.

Hydro says the upgrade is needed because more women are working in non-traditional jobs.

There are approximately 60 facilities requiring the addition of a female bathroom. The buildings in question include all remote sites and diesel and hydro-generating stations. Right now, those buildings only have one bathroom.

There are currently 40 women working at the sites, but Hydro said that number will increase.
