A driver pulled over by RCMP in North West River on Saturday was carrying more than 22 grams of cocaine and an unusual weapon — a machete.

The 48-year-old man from Happy Valley-Goose Bay is now facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as resisting arrest.

Police also said they found drug paraphenalia and $1,650 in cash when they searched the suspect and his car.

He's scheduled to appear in court in Labrador on Nov. 13.
