Fire destroyed most of a home in Clarenville Friday, in an incident that forced the evacuation of other homes in the neighbourhood.
The house was already engulfed in flames when RCMP and the Clarenville fire department arrived on the scene shortly after noon.
RCMP said the homeowner had been working on a vehicle inside his garage when the fire broke out.
No one was injured but a neighbour's home was damaged by the intense heat.
RCMP and officials from the fire commissioner's officer are investigating.
