Bell Island crime rampage leads to 21 charges

Christian Jenkins, 20, and Wayne Boone, 19 of Bell Island appeared in court on Friday morning on 21 charges related to a rampage on the island on Thursday afternoon.
The charges are for robbery, assault with a weapon, mischief to property, and breach of probation.
Wayne Boone, 19, is facing multiple charges along with Christian Jenkins. (CBC )Jenkins and Boone have been accused of assaulting at least a half dozen people and damaging several homes, vehicles and St. Augustine's School.
Court documents have alleged they used two-by-fours in several of the assaults on several people, including an 80-year-old man.
The RCMP also suspect the men were responsible for an attempted armed robbery at Ridge Way Variety, shortly after the attacks happened in the community.
When the suspects didn't get the cash, they began trashing the store.
Police on Bell Island continued to interview witnesses on Friday.
