Man charged with impaired driving after hitting pedestrian

A 62 year old man is being charged with impaired driving after hitting a pedestrian and his dog in the Airport Heights area of St. John's on Thursday evening.
The driver was passing a vehicle on the right when he failed to yield to the man on the crosswalk.
The victim was brought to the hospital. There is still no report on his condition or that of the dog.
The driver was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
