Cargo plane overshoots St. John's runway
None of the nine people onboard injured, says airport official, but two runways were closed.

A large cargo plane overshot a runway at the St. John's International Airport Monday afternoon.
Airport spokesperson Marie Manning confirmed nine people were onboard the Ilyushin 76 that was landing after 4 p.m. on runway 11/29.
She said there are no reports of injuries.
As of 5:15 p.m., the airport’s secondary runway (Runway 16) was open for regular operations. Airport officials said Runway 11/29 and Runway 02/20 will remain closed until approximately 9:00 p.m. Tuesday as the St. John’s International Airport Authority assesses any damage to its infrastructure.
Passengers are advised to check with their airlines on the status of their flight before going to the airport.
