Newfoundland and Labrador's fuel regulator lowered the price of gas and diesel Thursday, giving motorists a slight break at the pumps.
All grades of gasoline dropped by as much as 2.3 cents per litre, although some price drops vary in some areas of the province with the rounding for taxes.
The Public Utilities Board's (PUB) weekly price-setting means the cost of self-serve unleaded on the Avalon Peninsula, for instance, can sell for no more than $1.288 per litre.
The cost of gas is now almost three cents higher than it was a year ago.
The PUB also dropped the cost of diesel by about 1.4 cents per litre, and ordered decreases in the prices of furnace oil and stove oil.
The chart below shows how average gas prices in Newfoundland and Labrador have changed over the last 12 months, compared to both changes in the national average for gas prices and the global price of oil.
