Teenage girl attacked on Corner Brook trail

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is searching for a man accused of attacking a teenage girl while she was walking on a popular trail in Corner Brook.
Police said the girl, 16, was alone on the trail when a man grabbed her and pulled her into the woods around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The girl was between Glynmill Inn Pond and Margaret Bowater Park at the time.
The RNC said other people were walking on the trail and heard the girl scream. As they rushed to help, they scared off the man.
RNC officers, helped by a police dog, tracked the suspect to a road, but could not find him.
"This is something that is very rare and we don't see very often in the Corner Brook area," said Const. Bob Edwards.
"Right now it's being investigated as an attempted assault and an attempted abduction … This person did the right thing and made a call for help and she resisted, and as a result, we're lucky in this situation nothing serious happened."
The suspect is described as about 30 years old and six feet tall, and weighing about 190 pounds. He has short hair.
The girl was treated for minor injuries.
