The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has laid impaired driving charges in two separate weekend incidents in the Labrador West area.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, RNC patrol officers stopped a vehicle which was operating in a suspicious manner in the area of Bartlett Drive in Labrador City.

Police say there was an open bottle of beer in the vehicle near the driver. The 23 year-old man was charged with impaired driving and was released to appear in provincial court next month.

On Sunday, officers were called to a Wabush bar by a concerned citizen. They were responding to a report of an impaired driving in the parking lot.

A 45-year-old man was subsequently charged with drunk driving and will also appear in court next month.
