Cutter departs Lewisporte for Northwest Passage voyage

Lewisporte is the starting point for an attempt at a new route through the Northwest Passage.
The 10-metre-long cutter Beelzebub 2 left port Thursday for Canada's high Arctic.
The pair onboard is hoping to sail a new route through the McClure Strait.
The trip is designed to draw attention to the issue of global warming.
Nicholas Peissel and Edvin Buregren say they've received tremendous support from people in Lewisporte.
Peissel called it “really fantastic.”
The adventurers say if they succeed, it would provide further evidence of the affect global warming is having on the environment.
