Newly installed equipment meant to alert highway drivers in central Newfoundland to the presence of moose has been offline more than it's been working.

The system outside Grand Falls-Windsor is undergoing new repairs this week. But advocates like Eugene Nippard are questioning why the system, which was installed only last November as part of a two-prong pilot project, has failed at all.

"For a system to be down on the Trans-Canada — not on an end road, but the Trans-Canada — for over two months, it's unbelievable," Nippard told CBC News. "Why would it be down? Now, we can't get any explanation." [Read more here.]
