CBC arts producer Suzanne Woolridge dies

Suzanne Woolridge, who brought CBC Radio audiences countless reports on Newfoundland and Labrador's vibrant arts community, died Tuesday evening. She was 60.
Suzanne Woolridge worked for CBC Radio during much of her career, specializing in arts coverage. (CBC)Woolridge had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often known as Lou Gehrig's disease, and had been on medical leave from CBC since late 2010.
"Suzanne was just tremendous for the arts of the province," musician and conductor Peter Gardner said Wednesday.
"She was tenacious, she was informed and she researched so well … Whenever there was a story to be had, she was there to cover it."
Woolridge had worked with CBC Radio for most of her career, finding a home in the arts department in the 1980s and working for many years with the Weekend Arts Magazine. She also contributed to the national network's Arts Report for many years.
In addition to news reports, Woolridge had worked most recently as a producer with the St. John's Morning Show, often co-ordinating on-location broadcasts and special events.
