Jeremy Reid, left, is escorted to court this week. (CBC)A man awaiting trial in a high-profile hit-and-run case in western Labrador has been ordered to remain in custody.
Bail was denied on Friday for Jeremy Reid, who pleaded not guilty a day earlier on six criminal charges laid after a December 2010 incident in Wabush.
Reid is accused of driving drunk, striking down two people and then leaving the scene.
One of the victims, Shane Mercer, 30, died after being run down by a Jeep. He was walking home from a party with his friend Lesia Penney, who sustained serious injuries.
Reid's trial is not expected to start until October. The defence would like to have Reid tried in St. John's.
