Ordering coffee at Tim Hortons drive-thrus like this one will be different as of Monday, Jan. 23, when the company changes its cup sizes. (CBC)
Starting Monday, there will be some extra large changes when it comes to ordering at Tim Hortons.
The introduction of a new 24-ounce size means all existing cups will change their names. Extra large becomes large, large becomes medium, medium will be a small, and small has been rechristened extra small.
The changes only apply to hot beverages.
Trevor Thistle says that's a lot of coffee.
"That's larger than a pint," he noted.
Tim Hortons will soon have five sizes of coffee cups. (CBC)Tim's says the new sizing is in line with what American companies offer now.
"People love things that are bigger and better, but I don't see the point," said coffee drinker Sara Meyer.
The company says there'll be no change in the price per volume.
But buyer beware: when you order an extra large double-double, you'll actually get six cream and six sugar in that 24-ounce cup.
