Firefighters put out a fire at the Grand Falls-Windsor hospital early Monday afternoon.

There were no reports of injuries and the Central Regional Health Centre was not evacuated.

Firedepartment chief Vince MacKenzie said the fire started while roofers were working on a the new section of the Central Regional Health Centre.

A wall caught fire and after the wind picked up, the flames spread, he said.

It happened in a newly-built — but unopened — section of the facility that is expected to house operating theatres.
