Country Ribbon has been charged after an employee lost three fingers in an industrial accident just over two years ago.

Service NL said the amputation happened while the worker was cleaning a machine at the company's chicken processing plant in Pleasantville, in the east end of St. John's.

Country Ribbon was charged with three violations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

A supervisor also has been charged for failure to provide proper written or oral instructions for the protection of all workers under his supervision.

Both are scheduled to make court appearances Wednesday.
