A serious crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in central Newfoundland Friday killed a cab driver and injured a woman in labour who was being rushed to a local hospital.
The cab driver's sedan collided with a pickup truck just before noon on a stretch of highway that runs through Gander.
The woman and the baby's father were in the pickup truck, which flipped on to its side after it collided with the sedan.
Police said the baby was safely delivered after the collision, and that the parents' condition is stable.
RCMP said the cab driver, 43, succumbed to his injuries.
