A visitor from Ontario says Newfoundland and Labrador's tourism department and an iceberg mapping website gave her family bad information about where to see icebergs.

Melissa McLean said she checked the site icebergfinder.com and then called the provincial tourism department.

She said both indicated there were icebergs near Twillingate.

"We rented a car, headed out to Twillingate, rented a B&B and all that stuff, and went to book our tours and were told by everybody there that there are no icebergs here at all," said McLean.

McLean says her family enjoyed Twillingate but was disappointed by the erroneous iceberg reports.
