Trevor Taylor to run for federal Conservatives

Former MHA Trevor Taylor in 2008. (CBC)Former Newfoundland and Labrador cabinet minister Trevor Taylor announced Thursday morning that is seeking the federal Conservative nomination in the riding of Humber-St. Barbe-Baie Verte.
"After careful consideration and discussion with my family, I believe that now is the right time to enter a new season of public service," said Taylor in a news release. "I want to be part of a government that sees the bigger picture and translates it to results for real people in our communities."
Taylor served in the provincial cabinet as minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Innovation, Trade and Rural Development, and Transportation and Works.
"I believe my experience leading these departments gives me unique insight into the challenges that face rural Newfoundland and Labrador. Our riding needs a stronger voice in Ottawa," said Taylor.
Taylor is the latest former MHA to announce he plans to run for the Conservative in the federal election. Former MHAs John Ottenheimer, Fabian Manning and Loyola Sullivan have also announced they are seeking to represent Newfoundland and Labrador ridings in the House of Commons.
The federal Conservatives now have people lined up for all seven seats in the province.
The man who lost to Liberal Scott Simms in 2006 is taking another shot at politics.
Aaron Hynes said he'll be the Conservative candidate in the Bonavista-Gander-Grand Falls Windsor riding.
