The provincial Liberal Party is calling on Newfoundland and Labrador's government to keep its promise to create whistleblower legislation to protect who speak out about problems in their workplaces.

Interim Leader Kelvin Parsons said it's been three years since government promised it.

"They made the commitment Oct 6, 2007, the commitment was made in the 2008 throne speech, they postponed it then until the end of 2008, went through all 2009, here we are now to the end of 2010 and still no sign of it," said Parsons. "What's the point of making a commitment if you're not willing to keep it."

Parsons said if the government is preparing the legislation, it hasn't told the public about it.
