Police said they have recovered the body of a Newfoundland man who was swept out to sea Tuesday during the height of Hurricane Igor.
RCMP Sgt. Boyd Merill confirmed that a body found on Random Island is that of 80-year-old Alan Duffett.
Duffett was lost to the ocean when a road gave way beneath his feet during the storm. Searchers had found no sign of his body until Saturday, when it was found under beach rubble.
Merill said Duffett's family has been contacted.
