A central Newfoundland man says an eight-year-old boy, who admitted last month to RCMP that he beat a neighbour's dog to death with a barbeque fork, has killed more animals.

Corey Hodder, of Stoneville, found several of the chickens and ducks he keeps as family pets bludgeoned to death Tuesday.

"They got in my shed and there were shovels, a snow shovel, prongs, rakes, a sledgehammer and a level. Everything that was in my shed that they could get their hands on to throw at the birds — that's what they done," Hodder told CBC News Wednesday.

At least six birds were killed and five others were so badly injured that they can't walk.

Hodder notified the RCMP, and he said police interviewed the same eight-year-old boy who killed another Stoneville resident's dog last month.

The 12-pound Pomeranian was found beaten to death on June 4 but no charges were laid. RCMP and Child, Youth and Family Services were addressing the incident because of the boy's age.

After the latest animal killing, police again talked to the boy.

"[Police] went in and were talking to this boy for about an hour, and at the last of it, he admitted he done it," Hodder said.

Bonnie Harris of the Gander SPCA has also been notified about the latest incident. She was also involved when the dog was killed, which she called the most disturbing case of animal cruelty she had ever seen.

"What's going to happen next? Not just for the SPCA, but for the community itself. What's next?" she asked.

Harris said some of the birds had to be put down because they were too injured to recover.

The RCMP said the investigation into the bird killings is continuing.
