A corporate engagement in a sunny place provided Great Big Sea with just the right opportunity to film a new video.

The promotional clip for Nothing But a Song, a single from the St. John's band's 10th album, Safe Upon the Shore, was filmed in the Cayman Islands, with the tropical paradise providing quite the change from the dreary weather at home.

"Wisely, Sean [McCann] spoke up one day and said, 'Wait a minute. We have to go to the Grand Cayman for this corporate gig. Why don't we go down there for a few extra days and we'll film the video on the beach,'" singer Alan Doyle told CBC News.

Seventeen years after starting at small pubs in downtown St. John's, Great Big Sea enjoys sell-out crowds amid a hectic touring schedule.

"We have a job," said McCann. "Our job is to go out and bring our show to the people. But unlike most people's jobs, people clap for us at the end of our day's work. That never gets boring. That never gets tired, and we know we have the best job in the world."
