Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro announced Thursday that it will spend $52 million to maintain and upgrade its infrastructure across the province.

Hydro officials said most of the money will be spent on repairing and replacing equipment in rural parts of the province.

Hydro's Regulated Operations V.P. Jim Haynes, said the new spending will make the company's facilities safer for its employees and the public.
